On the evening of the Third Sunday of Advent, just over one hundred youngsters and parishioners gathered at Church and outside at the manger scene and then in Mack Hall to celebrate our annual Light – Up Night. The program, organized and directed by Sister Charlene, presented Advent reflections from the kings represented by Balthazar, the shepherds represented by Jerum, the animals in the stable represented by Lambkin and of course, Mary and Joseph. After each reflection a candle of the Advent Wreath was lighted. Surrounding these reflections, beautiful music came from the congregation, the Young Voices choir and cantors, and our talented musicians … all under the direction of Mrs. Diana Mikash and Mrs. Marion Siebert.
We then gathered in the vestibule and blessed the manger straw with a brief prayer service, following which Mary and Joseph carried the baby Jesus to the outdoor nativity scene, followed by everyone present, while all sang Silent Night. It was very cold, so we returned quickly to the warmth of the church.
The evening was topped off with good comfort food of hot dogs, mac & cheese and great cookies provided by “Two Ladies and a Gentleman Catering” in Mack Hall. Even Mr. and Mrs. Claus showed up to talk to the youngsters. A great time was had by all.
