ADVENT is a time of preparing – for Christmas, for a deeper relationship with Christ, and with a long-range view of what I need in my journey of a lifetime. During ADVENT we encourage the reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) as a vital part of our getting ready. A major part of that preparation are the Regional Advent Penance Services that will be taking place in the Third Week of Advent next week.
Pope Francis in a tweet on October 28th reminds us that “We are all sinners. But God heals us with an abundance of grace, mercy and tenderness.” He also said on November 18th that “Confessing our sins may be difficult for us, but it brings us peace. We are sinners and we need God’s forgiveness.” Our opportunities to acknowledge our sinfulness and repent of our sin next week include four Regional Penance services – on MONDAY at 7:00 pm at SAINT EDWARD in Herminie … on TUESDAY at 7:00 pm HERE at SEAS … on WEDNESDAY at 7:00 pm at IMMACULATE CONCEPTION in Irwin … and on THURSDAY at 7:00 pm at SAINT AGNES on Clay Pike. All four services begin at 7:00 pm, not later.
On December 2nd Pope Francis tweeted “Your sins are great? Just tell the Lord: forgive me, help me to get up again, change my heart.” Join us for one of the Penance Services.
