Collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services

Did you know that there is a Diocese (actually an Archdiocese) that serves the needs of Catholics in the military services of our nation?    It is led by Archbishop Timothy Broglio assisted by four Auxiliary Bishops and nearly 500 chaplains (250 on active duty and another 250 serving in Veteran Affairs Medical Centers) serving the spiritual needs of approximately 1.5 million Catholics and their families.  This vast Archdiocese receives absolutely no funding from the U.S. military or the government agencies and has no parishes to provide weekly sources of funding, but relies solely on generous donations from the general public and private grants.  Thus the Archdiocese this year has asked the various diocese in the country to help with this collection.

The collection was to be taken up this past weekend (November 9/10), but with our Mission Co-op, we did not take another second collection.  This year we as a parish will give a gift of $250.00 toward this worthy cause.  Envelopes were provided in the vestibule for this purpose, and if you wish to help, please use them and return them to us ASAP.  Checks can be made to SEAS with a notation “Military Services”.   This collection does not support the military or the government, but rather theChurch that ministers to those who serve in the military.  Thank you for your consideration.
