On a beautiful, cool, sunny afternoon, fifteen members of our Confraternity of Christian Mothers and a guest gathered at Saint Emma Retreat House north of Greensburg for an afternoon of reflection and prayer. Gathering for a meal at 12:30 pm in the dining hall, the women were welcomed by Mother Mary Ann of the Benedictine Sisters and then enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner. They were able to spend some time in the extensive gift shop and book store that the Sisters operate while waiting for Father Len to arrive after Mass and Baptisms.
Father Len gave two presentations in which he expanded on the seven sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary (the Sorrowful Mother is the patron of the Christian Mothers) and on the seven joys that touched Mary’s heart. Between talks the ladies gathered in the chapel for the praying of the rosary, and following the second presentation, Father Len fielded a question and answer period, with great questions put forth by the members. The day concluded at around 4:00 pm with the return trip to SEAS. Our thanks to the members for attending, to the officers for making the plans, and to the Benedictine Sisters at Saint Emma’s for their gracious hospitality – and to Father Len for his leadership.
