On a beautiful, sunny Sunday October afternoon, there was a small gathering of parishioners and friends who gathered in front of the Church for the blessing of pets in honor of Saint Francis of Assisi. The feast of Saint Francis was the previous Friday, but we reserved Sunday afternoon for this great blessing. There were over twenty dogs of varying breeds, sizes and ages and one lone bird in its cage brought by their families for blessing. (During the blessing a horse trailer came up the drive but went around to the back of the church, but no horse ever showed up).
Father Len thanked all for coming, called all to prayer, invoked the intercession of the Saint from Assisi (who had a deep love of animals and respect for all life), and sought God’s blessings upon these, our companions on the journey. We have included a few pictures of those present, with more to follow. A big THANK YOU to those attending.
