On Friday, the 13th of September, Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School held a fundraiser in the form of a Walk-a-thon. The kids and faculty and parents and priests gathered on the campus of Saint Edward Church in Herminie for the event. The church was the setting for the opening gathering, the parking area was marked out for the “laps”, the picnic pavillion was the setting for a bag lunch, areas for story telling for the little ones, first aid, rest areas and water stations were all provided … and the day was memorable.
Ruth Ann Noblick, the development director who planned the event, reported on September 25th that to date the Walk-a-thon has brought in over $11,000.00. Outstanding! And of that amount, Father Len’s pledges and gifts totaled $1,375.00 (not bad for someone who did not even walk, but rather sat and cheered on the youngsters). He and the school family are most grateful for the larger community’s support.
More on Queen of Angels soon. It is our school.
